Thursday, July 24th – Elisabet Ney Museum Grounds – 304 East 44th Street. No fee, includes shady grounds, picnic areas and museum visit if desired (Ney’s former studio and sculpture collection – museum opens at 10 am). Directions: located between 44th and 45th streets and Avenues G & H in Hyde Park . Meeting up will be easy at this location. August, 2008

Thursday, August 7th - Mansfield Dam Park, Mansfield Dam Road, (S. of the dam), $8 entrance fee/vehicle. Park is located next to Mansfield Dam on the main body of Lake Travis and offers views of the lake (including a “panoramic view of the Lake Travis basin” according to the web site), boats, playgrounds and swimming. Bring water and lunch if you think you might stay that long. Directions: From the intersection of RR 620 and FM 2222, travel south 4.9 miles. Turn right onto Mansfield Dam Road, just south of Mansfield Dam. The park entrance is on your left where you will pay and get a map. Meet in the parking lot by the picnic shelters. Saturday, August 16th - Inks Lake State Park. website This is a fabulous park with lots of trees, cactus, pink granite, water, wildlife, etc. If you haven't been, it's well worth the drive. Thursday, August 21st – Red Bud Isle Park, at low water crossing on Red Bud Trail. This park offers view of Ladybird Lake and the Tom Miller Dam. It is a leash-free dog park, so set up with that in mind. No swimming allowed, so I suggest an 8 am start to catch early fog and cooler temperatures. Directions: From Mopac travel West on Lake Austin Blvd., turn left at Red Bud Trail, cross low-water bridge and turn into parking lot on your left. Cell phone contact: Laurel Daniel – 632-4166.
